Answers before you book.
Do I need a referral from another doctor?
A referral is welcome and helps us coordinate your care, but it is not required. You may book a consultation directly.
Will the procedure hurt?
The skin is numbed with local anesthetic first. Most patients feel pressure rather than sharp pain. For longer therapeutic procedures, light sedation may be offered.
Are these procedures safe?
Every procedure is performed under live imaging guidance and follows the international safety standards of ASRA and the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS), with full emergency equipment and protocols in the room. Serious complications are rare. Risks are explained fully before you consent.
Will I be put to sleep?
No. These are not general-anesthesia operations. Most procedures are done with local anesthetic only. Moderate sedation, in which you remain awake and breathing on your own, may be offered for some therapeutic procedures. Diagnostic blocks are done awake so that the result is reliable.
How long does it take, and can I go home the same day?
Most procedures take 15 to 30 minutes, and almost all patients go home the same day after a short recovery period.
How soon will I feel better?
It depends on the procedure. Steroid effects usually begin over 3 to 7 days. We will set honest expectations with you before the procedure.
What languages do you speak?
Dr. Kim provides care in English. Khmer-speaking staff are available at the clinic, and interpreter support can be arranged.
What should I bring to my first visit?
A list of your medications and doses, any allergy information, any imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) reports or discs, and your insurance or payment information.
How much will it cost?
Fees are published and discussed openly at your consultation, and you will receive a written estimate before any procedure. See Fees and Insurance.
